94 acres Hunting and Recreational Land in Spencer NY Crumtown Road

Groomed hunting and recreational property in Spencer NY.

This is 94 acres of hunting and recreational land at its best.  The current owner has spent the last three decades creating this amazing property.  It is located on a paved County road known as Crumtown Road just northeast of the Town of Spencer.  As you approach the property from the road there is an existing driveway that leads up to a small clearing large enough to park several vehicles.  From the parking area and heading up the hill, you will notice well-maintained wide logging roads throughout the property.  Approximately 400 feet from the road’s edge, there is a power line and that could be utilized to power a year-round home or build that cabin in the woods you have always dreamed of.  There are a few locations on the property that would make a nice private site to build a home or hunting cabin.  Hi-speed internet is also available on the property.  Danby State Forest is just a few miles to the north.  Less than a half mile to the south of the property is a State Snowmobile trail access.

The topography of the property reaches a plateau near the middle where you will discover two hidden fields with established food plots and a massive oak tree with a tree stand.  Portions of the fields have been reclaimed by nature and allowed to grow back into woody areas with brush to create better habitat for deer and turkey.  There are a few existing tree stands near the fields.  A blind built into a spruce tree includes a roof so you can escape the rain.  The blind is camouflaged so well, you may not even notice it unless you know it’s there.  A small stream runs through the property which offers a nice watering spot for wildlife.  The wooded acreage consists of various hardwoods including Oak, Maple and Hickory with a few nice stands of thick pines which provides nice bedding areas for deer.  There have been several large 130-140 inch class bucks taken off the property over the past decade and the area supports good genetics and a healthy whitetail deer population.  The turkey population in the area is very active and I saw signs of turkey tracks when I walked the property.  The current owner claims there are plenty of turkeys present in the spring and fall and has had many successful turkey hunts on the property.  The current owner consulted with the DEC to enhance the property for wildlife habitat over 15 years ago.

If you enjoy fishing, there are many opportunities within a half hour drive including the Chemung River and Cayuga Lake, and within 45 minutes to Seneca Lake and Catherine Creek.

There are no active leases and all Oil, Gas, Mineral and Timber rights convey.  NYS DEC’s Wildlife Management Unit #7R.
