Waterfront Home on Lake Erie and Eighteen Mile Creek Fly Fisherman’s Dream Property

Stunning Waterfront Home with views of Lake Erie and Historic Eighteen Mile Creek from every room!

Located in Idlewood, a private Lakefront Community in Hamburg, a Buffalo Suburb.

Recently renovated throughout. Impressive features include 5 bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, open concept layout with fantastic views of Lake Erie and Eighteen Mile Creek.  Kitchen is complete with Wood Mode Cabinetry, SS Wolf and SubZero appliances.  The Master Suite is an incredible 1,000 sq. ft. with its private deck, custom bath, and large dressing areas.  The large guest suite design is private elegance with its whirlpool bath and fireplace. There are hardwood floors throughout the home and a outdoor patio setup perfectly for outdoor entertaining.

The home is elegant and situated perfectly overlooking its shore frontage of Lake Erie and the mouth of Eighteen Mile Creek. The land is a mixture of a mature hardwood forest and river frontage. Eighteen Mile Creek runs through this property from Old Lake Shore Drive to its mouth at Lake Erie; effectively having close to 2 miles of river frontage including both banks and the backsets.  The shore front on Lake Erie is accessed easier by the south side of Eighteen Mile Creek.  It is an incredible stone beach that runs slightly out into the lake doubling the 947 ft. of Erie Lake front to close to 2000 ft. of waterfront.

Since the owners completely renovated and improved the house, they are turning their interest to the property by improving the access to the woods and creek from the house. This spring the Lower Road will be reestablished as an easy access to the majority of the property. The intention is to make this roadway passable for walking, horseback and side by side utility vehicles.

The land bordering Eighteen Mile Creek on this property is an incredible natural resource that is completely controlled by the current landowners.  The owners, with cooperation of the DEC, and Towns of Hamburg and Evans, have agreed to allow limited public fishing ONLY on this part of Eighteen Mile Creek.  This revocable agreement allows public access ONLY to Eighteen Mile Creek for Catch and Release Fly Fishing, NOT the remainder of the 40 acres.  There is public parking on the opposite side of Old North Shore Road.

The wooded property on this land is a mixture of rolling hardwoods and river flatland.  There’s plenty evidence of a healthy deer population and the owners say it’s very relaxing to sit on the water’s edge watching the beaver and the ducks swim by.

Information on Eighteen Mile Creek:

Eighteen Mile Creek is the second largest tributary of Lake Erie in New York State, and there are few comparable streams in the Great Lakes Plain ecological region. Undisturbed tributary streams that provide habitat for major spawning runs by salmon and other lake-based fish populations are especially important in this region. Eighteen Mile Creek is particularly significant because large concentrations of coho salmon, Chinook salmon and brown trout migrate from Lake Erie in to the creek each fall, from late August through December (September-November , primarily), when salmon ascend the streams to spawn (although unsuccessfully in most instances). In addition, steelhead (lake-run rainbow trout) migrate into Eighteen Mile Creek during the fall and between late February and April. Runs of trout and salmon occur beyond the junction of the Main and South Branches of the creek, but population levels are not well developed above this point. These fish populations are the result of an ongoing effort by the NYSDEC to establish a major salmon fishery in the Great Lakes through stocking.
